Here is another part (admittedly a really short one) of my quest to visit all the wineries in Cyprus (full list coming soon!).
Vasilikon Winery was in the back of my mind for a long time because we always drove by it on the way to Akamas Peninsula and Latchi, but never had time to stop for a wine tasting.
They have just moved to a brand new building further down the road and a few weeks back thanks to a bank holiday we had the perfect excuse to sample their grapes.
If you’ve visited other wineries in Cyprus, like my favourite Kolios Winery or Vouni Winery, you’ll be a bit disappointed with the view.
The winery sits in a peaceful location with a lovely view on vineyards and it was pretty easy to find.
The interior was very tastefully decorated and it even has a small museum. We arrive early in the afternoon and the lady at the reception directed us the museum first.
We would have probably enjoyed it a bit more if there was some explanation about the tools and items displayed.
After a quick look around we came back to the bar to taste the wines.
Unfortunately, the wine tasting was rather quick as there were only four wines to choose from and we didn’t get a chance to have a proper tour of the winery, which is something an experienced winery tourist appreciates the most. If you’re planning a visit, don’t make this the main event of your day – you can stop by if it’s on your way to Polis or Latchi, where you’ll find plenty more to explore.
