After a little absence from wine-tasting adventures, I’m reporting back to duty!
A week ago we drove to Letymbou village to discover one of the few last remaining wineries in Paphos that I have not been too. Makarounas winery is a family boutique winery producing a limited number of locally grown wines and the selection certainly didn’t disappoint.
The winery is at the edge of the village and a short drive away from the village centre. I called in the morning to make sure they are opened the weekends and after 30+ minutes drive from Paphos we were there. We were lucky as we got in right after a huge crowd of tourists left the winery. The winery is located in what looks like a brand new building, with a production facility directly on-site and a small wine cellar and production line in the basement.
For such a small winery, they have a wonderful selection of wines, including ones from Morokanella grapes which I’ve never tasted before. After a short tour of the winery, we settled in for tasting & nibbles.
My favorite was probably the rose, which we’ve heard is called the “Provance Rose” thanks to its light
We got two bottles to take with us, and I’m happy to report they went down rather well (and too quickly).
If you fancy making it more of a trip, there are other wineries very close by that you can swing by in one go. Just make sure you have a designated driver who will be happy to sit quietly while you sip your wine =)

Does this winery only have 4 different wines? All appear to be white/rose. Any reds?
Hi Sammie,
yes they do have reds, a small selection. We tasted the Maratheftiko and one other variety and they were lovely!
