I almost forgot to tell you about my trip to Letymbou tavern!
A few weeks ago, while visiting Makarounas Boutique winery, we were desperately hungry and in a sleepy village like Letymbou, we counted our lucky stars when we stumbled upon Letympou Tavern.
The restaurant was actually recommended by our friends who visited during their holiday, and it scored some awards from Time Out Cyprus so I was keen to see what the buzz is all about.
We arrived just before they were due to open lunchtime and they let us in with a smile. The restaurant was empty but most of the tables were reserved for lunch, so we were quite lucky to arrive early and enjoy the food in peace. The lady serving us was super friendly and welcoming, even handing some toys to my little one to entertain him. She seemed to know a lot of the customers who arrived after us and it sounded like they keep coming here every year.
The restaurant is right in the middle of the village and they have a large parking space right behind it, the access is a bit tricky and you might not spot it right away. It is set in an old traditional stone house with the typical taverna feel. They have a small outdoor terrace where you can enjoy your food in the summer.
Most of the praise for Letymbou goes to their mezze, which we didn’t taste, so I can’t comment. I had a fresh salmon with veggies, which was delicious and perfectly cooked. Village salad was as fresh as if it was picked from the garden minutes ago. The only disappointment was my husband’s pork which wasn’t cooked too well.
If you ever visit, do let me know how you liked it!
