This has actually been my third visit, but my first time as a guest staying overnight. The first time I came with my husband was when we were hunting wedding venues in Cyprus and found the resort very expensive and lacking any privacy.
The second time, we had dinner here for my husband’s birthday, only to find out that there was a wedding taking place, so while enjoying our dinner we had to listen to strangers’ wedding speech and it was rather a strange dinner experience.
So going here for the third time, I didn’t have too high
The food has improved dramatically since our last visit a couple of years ago and the value is much better too. We were very lucky and scored a mid-week deal in which for 80
If you’ve never visited before, you will be immediately charmed by the gorgeous buildings and the village feel of the resort.
There is a main building with a restaurant and lobby, a small romantic chapel where they do weddings, and separate spa facilities and the rooms are scattered into different accommodation blocks. In front of the reception is a small sitting area under a pergola covered in vines, where we enjoyed a cheeky after-dinner glass of wine (or two).
Our dinner was a 3 course menu, with an identical starter – shrimp with orzo salad, a main course which was an option between duck leg and spinach ravioli and a dessert – coconut cake. Everything was super delicious and they had plenty of wines to choose from.
Only thing that bugged me a bit was the restaurant setting, which seemed to be lacking any romantic atmosphere and it felt like a dinner in a cheap hotel. Apart from that, the staff was super friendly and I loved their old bar with the fireplace.
As ashamed as I am to admit, we didn’t actually make it to the spa itself as we arrived late in the evening and left shortly after checkout.
I will leave that for my visit number 4 and maybe take my mum along. In the end, Ayii Anargyri is one of the few places where can you truly connect with nature and enjoy the serene countryside and zen-like peace. What’s there not to love?
