Paphos ZOO is just around the corner from where I live and despite visiting a few times, I have been a little hesitant to add it here.

I always have had mixed feelings about going to the ZOO, mainly due to the limited space some of the animals have here and I feel a little guilty paying money to see them that way.

I’ve seen pretty impressive ZOOs in different countries where the animals are free to roam around. The animals have a lot more freedom if we forget the fact that they live in captivity.

The ZOO in Paphos is a little different, as it started as a bird park and gradually expanded. Cyprus is a place where land is a luxury, which also translates to the enclosures being the size they are – relatively small.

Those are just my impressions and opinions, but feel free to visit and make your own judgment.

The photos in here are from my last visit on a gorgeous February Saturday.

It was the first very warm weekend after the rainy season took a little break and let us enjoy the outdoors again.

The ZOO in Paphos feels very lush and natural, so for us, the escape to a bit of nature was more of a motivation than the animals themselves.
